At the airport
Passport control at Beauvais Airport
If your flight leaves the Schengen area or arrives from outside it, you will go through the Border Police check. Have your document open at the photo page and allow extra time in your plans.
When there is passport control
France is part of the Schengen area. Since 7 April 2017, all travellers entering or leaving this area at an air, sea or land border have been subject to systematic checks. This applies, for example, to flights between Beauvais and the United Kingdom, Ireland or Morocco. On flights between Schengen countries there is, as a general rule, no passport control, although you still need valid travel documents to board.
When you enter or leave France, the Border Police may check that your travel document is genuine and consult national, European and international databases.
How to get through faster
- Allow extra time: for flights outside Schengen, the airport recommends arriving 2 to 3 hours beforehand.
- Have your boarding pass ready.
- Have your passport or ID card open at the photo page.
Once you have gone through passport control, you cannot go back. There are shops and services in the departure lounge to help pass the time.
On arrival, if you are coming from a country outside Schengen, you will also go through this check before leaving the airport. See also the customs rules.
