At the airport
Security check at Beauvais Airport
Every passenger must go through security before boarding. Have your boarding pass in your hand, your liquids in their bag and your electronic devices ready to take out of your case.
The security check makes sure that nobody takes dangerous or illegal items into the cabin. Your hand luggage, your equipment (pushchairs, medical equipment and so on) and your person are all checked. Depending on what time you get to the airport, the wait can be long.
- Get your documents ready. You will need your boarding pass to go through the automatic gates and to show to the officer. Keep your ID document to hand as well.
- Put your things in the trays. While you queue, take off your coat, jacket, scarf, belt and watch, and empty your pockets (keys, coins). Take your laptop, tablet and other electronic devices, as well as hairdryers and hair straighteners, out of your bag and put them in a separate tray. Liquids go in their transparent bag, also separately. You can also put in the tray any purchases made in the airport shops, in their sealed bag with the receipt visible, your prescription medicines and baby food. Finally, put your cabin bag on the scanner belt.
- Walk through the metal detector. Wait until the staff tell you to go through and follow their instructions.
- Collect your belongings. At the end of the checkpoint there are tables where you can pack everything away again. Then head to the departure lounge.
Worth knowing
- There may be additional checks if an alarm goes off, or at random, in line with the regulations.
- An officer of the same sex may pat you down, and staff may search your belongings and luggage thoroughly.
- You may be asked to take off your shoes, as they can contain metal parts.
- If you have a medical condition that requires a special inspection (pacemaker, prosthesis, treatment), tell the security staff and show your medical certificate.
The rules on liquids and prohibited items are on the hand luggage page.
If a prohibited item is taken from you
If you are carrying something on you or in your cabin bag that is not allowed in the cabin, security staff will remove it. To avoid it being destroyed, you have several options:
- go back to the check-in desk and send it in a bag in the hold, if it is allowed to be carried (there is a charge);
- use the Troov service from the checkpoint itself, to collect it on your return or have it sent to an address of your choice: Troov at Beauvais Airport;
- depending on how much time is left before your flight, an officer may let you take it back to your vehicle.
If you had a problem at security
If you had any difficulty at the security check or getting into the departure lounge, the airport offers an incident report form. Download it, fill it in and send it to the email address given on it; you will receive a reply within 15 days at most: security check incident form (in French, .docx).
