Flying with a pet from Beauvais Airport
You have to declare your animal when you book and get the airline’s approval. According to the airport, all the airlines operating at Beauvais accept pets except Ryanair and Wizz Air.
Guide dogs and assistance dogs are an exception: they travel free in the cabin with their owner, whatever their size or weight, including on Ryanair and Wizz Air. You will find the details below.
Each airline’s conditions
The rules (maximum weight, type of carrier, price, accepted destinations) are set by each airline. Check them on the airline’s website:
Only small animals are allowed in the cabin, with a maximum weight that varies by airline. If yours is heavier, it will have to travel in the hold. Either way, the animal and its carrier go through the security check. At the airport you will need to register and declare it at the check-in desk.
Requirements and tips
- Find out about the health rules in your destination country. In some countries, the animal may be quarantined on arrival: ask your airline or the consulate.
- Your animal must be up to date with compulsory vaccinations. Bring its up-to-date health record.
- To travel within the European Union, dogs and cats must be identified by microchip or tattoo and have a European pet passport.
- Use a carrier suited to its size and weight and approved for air travel; you will find them in pet shops.
- If your pet is fearful, nervous or suffers from travel sickness, talk to your vet.
- Leave a small water bowl, a little food and an absorbent mat inside the carrier.
The French government brings together the rules on animals on planes on its website: flying with an animal (in French).
Guide dogs and assistance dogs
Guide dogs for passengers with sensory or physical disabilities, such as blind or partially sighted people, travel free in the cabin with their owner, regardless of their weight or size. There is no supplement to pay for them. If you have the French mobility inclusion card (CMI) or a disability card, bring it with you.
